Project Description

We deployed acoustic receivers in Cecil Bay to investigate the movement of sea lamprey in the river plume of Carp Lake River Outlet. We applied varying concentrations of a natural sea lamprey-derived repellent to assess its effects on sea lamprey migratory behavior.

Management Benefits

This project was conducted in concert with an EPA-GLRI grant that investigated the likelihood and timing of upstream movement of sea lamprey in the Carp Lake River Outlet under varying management scenarios. Information gained from the GLATOS portion of this study will enable us to better understand and inform management of sea lamprey migration through scent-based behavioral manipulation at the lake-river interface.
