Project Description

The Thames River Walleye Habitat study uses acoustic telemetry to identify spawning habitat in the Thames River. This study is a companion to the NDMNRF Thames River Habitat Suitability Index project. Migratory behavior and dispersal through the Great Lakes and connecting waters will be described.

Objectives

Describe Walleye spawning habitat in the Thames River.
Describe migrations to, from and within the Thames River including the Great Lakes and connecting waters.
Estimate life history parameters
Describe importance to fisheries.

Management Benefits

Results of the study support Walleye conservation and Thames River planning.
